Allasso Means Change

Why should we help those people?

Over 90% of the people currently behind bars will be released at some point in their lives. It’s not a question of “if” these people rejoin us in society, it’s simply a question of when and how. ‘When’ is decided by a judge, jury and current state law for their sentence and sometimes prison behavior. ‘How’ is up to those of us out here. Our community. As a community we cannot simply ignore our troubled fathers, brothers, and sisters and pretend that they don’t exist. We all know what happens when you ignore troubled people. The more we can do to intercede in the cycle of pain, anger and criminal behavior, the less of it there will be. By getting involved in the lives of those incarcerated or newly released we can help guide them towards living spiritually strong, productive and healthy lives as fellow members of our communities. As a community we will then help prevent crime by helping criminals turn into citizens and therefore decreasing the number of criminals and amount of crime.

Does Corrections Correct?

It is a myth to think that prison makes a man or woman better, prison does not improve anyone. They must make the choice to improve themselves and accept the help of God for the change process to be solid and lasting. Prison, is a constantly negative, violent and isolated environment that makes people who already have problems getting along with others, have even more. If we simply lock people up, ignore them and then expect them to be nice well-behaved loving members of our community when we unlock the doors, we are lying to ourselves. Love is the most powerful force in the universe and the only true source of lasting change. Change stemming from fear only lasts as long as the fear does. Love never fails.

Community Involvement

It takes the whole village to make someone a part of the village.
